Ever since I was a young girl playing store with my toy cash register and dad’s old credit cards, I have always dreamed of owning my own boutique! My first business venture was “Sarah’s Store” which consisted of homemade cards made with construction paper and my little pink embossing kit! I still remember the sign my dad printed out for me on our dot-matrix printer (hey, it was the early 80’s!). Fast forward to over a decade ago, when I was blessed with my first baby Miss M….my little fashionista. Miss M has a rare disorder called 2q23.1 Microdeletion Syndrome. She is our “2qtie” or “too qutie” – hence the name for this blog AND our boutique! Miss M is nonverbal and has a variety of special needs but we connect with each other through her love of clothes and my love of shopping for those clothes – ha!! She carries around Vogue and Elle magazine and points out styles and accessories that she loves, which really gives us a chuckle when that “something” is a metallic gold mini skirt! In 7 years, she will age out of school and I with a little luck and a lot of hard work, I hope she will be able to help me run Too Qute Boutique. It would be amazing if we grew so much that I could employ other individuals with developmental disabilities too! That would truly be all kinds of wonderful. Miss M and I spend a lot of time at therapy & doctor’s appointments and the like. I am always seeking comfortable, cute things to wear that won’t break the bank! I promise to bring you exactly this – clothes that are comfy, on-trend and affordable, that will take you from school meetings to running to activities with kids, a quick dinner with the family, and everything in between. She has quite an eye for colors, textures and the like, so we also carry a growing line of home decor items and ladies fashion accessories, too! Too Qute blog evolved from the boutique as a forum to discuss all things related to special needs parenting, fashion, and my lifestyle of being a mom, clothing lover and fierce advocate for Miss M. Please don’t hesitate to drop me a line!
Thank you so much for stopping by!
